About Judge Wolfe Guitars

When I began learning to play guitar as a young teenager, I became equally fascinated by the history and design of the instrument. Eventually I came to realize that the vintage guitars sounded better - and a modern factory made guitar just didn’t have the same sound and feel as a vintage or quality handmade instrument.

What began as tinkering with guitars turned into a passion for studying, building, and repairing them using vintage process and materials.

The journey continues....

Designing your Custom Dream Guitar

Designing a custom guitar is an very rewarding experience that any guitar player should be lucky enough to do at least once. Just about every detail from the wood selection to body style to the tuning machines to bridge pins is up to you. Judge can make recommendations based on the style of music you play or your specific needs. It is recommended that you play numerous guitar styles, makes and models to get a feel for what you prefer. You will be fully involved in the process and Judge will consult your opinions along the way and provide recommendations based on his experience. Some of the basics you will need to settle upon are as follows:

  • Body Style (Dreadnought, Orchestra Model, OOO, etc)
  • Top Tonewood Selections
  • Back and Sides Tonewood Selections
  • Neck Width at Nut (Typical options are 1 11/16", 1 3/4")
  • Scale Length
  • Frets to the Body (Typically 12 or 14, but Judge has made 13s too)
  • Headstock, Fingerboard & Body Inlays
